Tradaptation de « Je me suis fait tout petit » de Georges Brassens en anglais (I became childlike)

I ‘d never taken off my hat in front
Of anyone
But now I crawl and I beg to confront
Her one on one
I was a mean dog but now I break bread
Inside her hand
I had wolf teeth but now I’ve exchanged them
For baby fangs
I became childlike in front of a doll
Who shuts her eyes when put to bed
I became childlike in front of a doll
Who says mommy when touched her head
I was a badass but she converted me
By cunning tricks
And I felt ablaze with warmth and fiery
Facing her lips
She reveals her baby teeth while smiling
When she ‘s singing
She bares her wolf-like teeth when she's boiling
When she is mean
I became childlike in front of a doll
Who shuts her eyes when put to bed
I became childlike in front of a doll
Who says mommy when touched her head
I submit to her law I am affable
To a control
And although she is jealous beyond all
Even dreadful
A beautiful figure stood by my side
Prettier than her
A beautiful figure who one day died
I remember
I became childlike in front of a doll
Who shuts her eyes when put to bed
I became childlike in front of a doll
Who says mommy when touched her head
All the sleepwalkers all the mages have
Warned me decent
In the cradle of her crossed arms I'll have
My last torment
Varies between difficult and easier
I take a stand
Whether I hang myself here or elsewhere
If I must hang
I became childlike in front of a doll
Who shuts her eyes when put to bed
I became childlike in front of a doll
Who says mommy when touched her head
